Destination Guide - Costa del Sol, Spain |
 |
 |
The definitive Spanish resort area lies at the south of Spain's Mediterranean coastline in the province of Andalusia. Notable for nightlife, sandy beaches, jet-set clubs and easy access to the Moorish inland towns of Granada, Córdoba and Seville.
Averaging over 300 days of sunshine, it’s no wonder the Costa del Sol is regarded as the play ground of Europe. The coastline is well known also for its miles of wide, sandy beaches that are gently lapped by the warm clear waters of the Med.
Andalucia embodies all that is typically Spanish……Sun drenched beaches, flamenco dancers, Moorish castles, orange groves, Matadors and sleepy whitewashed houses that are perched on hillsides.
The Costs del Sol is the perfect gateway to the quintessential picture of Spain, from the cosmopolitan marinas of Marbella to the tournament class golf courses of Fuengirola. From the glittering sands of Torremolinos to the lively tapas bars of Nerja, the resorts of the Costs del Sol make up the ‘sunshine coast’ offer something for everyone.
As well as access to the full range of watersports you'd expect, the Costa del Sol offers access to many world-class golf courses, as well as other sports such as tennis and squash.
Food: Excellent seafood is to be found throughout the Costa del Sol, notably pescada al sal (baked salt fish) and tapas. For aperitif drinks, try Fino Quinto or Moriles.
Nightlife: Try to get into Marbella's trendy Cafe del Mar or Oh! Marbella, or Puerto Banus's News Cafe. Otherwise enjoy the mix of colourful flamenco, piano bars, pubs, nightclubs, discos and the casino at Torrequebrada and the Benalmadena coast.
