At the centre of the seven Canary Islands, Gran Canaria features tropical sand dunes, cliffs and beautiful scenery with camel rides, water park, naturist beach and fun fair. This island definitely has something for everyone.
Puerto Rico has water sports on their famous man made beach. Playa del Ingles has three water parks. There is also golf, football, 10 pin bowling and Go Karting.
Food: Fresh fruit, vegetables in soups, or covered in spicey mojo sauce are good value. The local wine is fine but try a sip of the banana liquor for a little adventure.
Nightlife: Playa del Ingles has all night clubs, bars and restaurants. Puerto Rico has hot dance parties, bars and discos. Maspalomas and Balna Feliz offer a gentle haven with friendly cafes and picturesque town squares.
Shopping: Chic Las Palmas has the best shopping with a market on Sunday mornings. The luxury taxes are low and good buys are spirits, tobacco, lace, wine and electrical goods.
Days out: Be a cowboy at the wild west theme park at Sioux City. See a Bullfight performed by specially trained parrots at Palmitos Park or visit the caves homes of the Guanches. Try an island tour, a cruise or even a camel safari!
Events: Check local tourist information. Tourist information telephone number (UK): +44(020) 7499 0901. |
