It’s the ultimate destination for clubbers, the island that is home to the largest discotheque in the world, the island with a magnetic attraction for the young and fashionable, drawing huge numbers of nightlife fanatics from all over the globe. Yet there is another side to Spain’s second largest Balearic island. Ibiza’s best kept secret is the peace and quiet of its countryside and rocky coastline away from the bigger resorts. While Ibiza transfers by taxi, minibus or shuttle coach speed many to a holiday of non-stop partying from dusk to dawn and way beyond, others will board their transfer bus or coach to family destinations like pretty Santa Eulalia, or in the far north, Portinatx. Ibiza visitors should not miss its little sister island Formentera, a ferry crossing away and a haven of tranquillity where cycles are more often hired than cars.
Low-cost airlines: Eujet, Easyjet, Monarch, Air Berlin, Air Europa, Jet2,com and others. And many visitors book flight-only charter deals. Resorthoppa can arrange taxi, minibus and coach shuttle from any flight to the door of your hotel at any resort.
Top resorts on the airport shuttle route begin with Playa d’en Bossa, a superb sandy beach close to the capital. On the west coast is San Antonio, where in the so-called ‘West End’ or at various sunset bars, the young congregate as the night begins. But families find a lively time awaits them too in the hotels on the bay’s south side. Further north lies San Miguel, an hour or so by airport transfer, where in the Port resort all-inclusive holidays are popular. On the east coast is the town of Santa Eulalia, its centre unchanged for a century, yet its beach now a well-groomed semi-circle of sand fringed with bars and cafes catering to family tastes. On the rocky north coast, farthest from the airport by Ibiza airport shuttle transfer is Portinatx, with stunning scenery, perfect coves and an ideal spot for peace and quiet with the family.

Formenterra is a 40-minute rapid ferry ride from Ibiza Port and an escape to another world of perfect white beaches, simple “chiringuito” bars and restaurants and a total chill-out. Head for Salines, Platja des Pujols, es Calo or other even smaller villages. And a bike really does seem the best way to get about.
Clubbers won’t want to miss Privilege, the largest club in the world according to the Guinness Book of Records, or Pacha. Older night-lifers might opt for El Divino in Ibiza port. But be warned, it is expensive!
Fancy that: One Ibiza club, Space, does not open until almost dawn! And it keeps on going until mid afternoon. No surprise then that many clubbers fail to take home a tan.
Top hotels The cutting-edge and happening El Hotel Pacha and the colourful, intimate Las Brisas de Ibiza.
