From teeming city to mountain hamlet, Majorca (spelt Mallorca in Spanish) is large enough to be almost a country in itself, and varied enough to suit every tourist taste. Yet only a few minutes in an airport transfer taxi will see you at your hotel door in the capital Palma, while three hours at the most by Mallorca airport shuttle bus or minibus will take you to the far end of the island. Resorts range from sophisticated marinas, to bustling beach strips packed with bars and restaurants to tiny fishing coves. Palma and its ultra-modern airport lie to the south-west of the island. The south-west coast features sandy bays and yacht harbours with plentiful golf courses just inland.
The rugged west coast is mountainous and has spectacular cliffs, tiny coves and the prettiest villages. On the north coast the giant Alcudia bay is the furthest destination by airport transfer but contains all a holidaymaker could need. The east and south east features soft, flat countryside and sunny beaches.
Low-cost airlines: Eujet, Easyjet, Monarch, Air Berlin, Air Europa, Jet2.com … all the big carriers include Mallorca on their schedules. And Resorthoppa can arrange taxi, minibus, and coach shuttle from any flight to the door of your hotel at any resort.
TOP RESORTS: in the South West, Palma Nova, Magalluf, and the yacht paradise of Port D’Andratx, Then on the rocky west coast, Deia, once home to poet Robert Graves, Soller, where a tram takes you to the beach, and Puerto Pollensa. In the north, furthest from the airport by transfer coach, the wide sandy bays of Alcudia, with Roman ruins in the port town itself. To the East, Cala D’Or, handy for the Caves of Drach, so big underground concerts are staged in them.
